Let me share with you folks my apologetics in honor of the Traslacion ng Poong Jesus Nazareno who is the only true God, the second person of the Holy Trinity, the ever Historical Figure from Nazareth.
As the Old testament would remind us, Moses could not even see God face to face. For if so He, Moses, should die.
20 “And He (YHWH) said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live”.
Here, God was actually foretelling a new prophet, a new Moses to come for the Israelites who could see Him face to face with death being not a threat anymore to the prophets’ life.
Moses announced it to his flock as well.
15 “The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;”
And what’s another important thing to note here is that this prophet would speak rather in YHWH’s name, something that would come from his own prophetic authority.
Deuteronomy 18:19 “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which He shall speak in my name, I will require it of him”.
22 “When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.”
And so, who was this prophet to come for the Israelites who would have the full authority to speak on behalf of God besides being able to speak vis a vis with God?
18 ” No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared him.”
It is the Son of God who could only be the one authoritative enough to see God face to face.
And it is Jesus. Let me show it clearly.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the ” Son of the living God”.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Is the “Son of God” God by the virtue of His Nature?
Maybe for some this question would result to confusion. But the Jews knew exactly what the title “Son of God” really means.
17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because He not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
The title “Son Of God ” itself is the title reserved for the only one God, the living God.
The Father, the first person of the Holy trinity, knew and would even exalt His beloved Son Jesus;
Hebrew 1:8 ” But unto the Son He saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom”.
But always remember, there is only one God whom the Jews knew since time immemorial. And they would recite it daily in their temple.
Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
It is already proven from above that it was Jesus whom God and Moses had spoken about in the old times to be the prophet to come for the Israelites. The one who would see God face to face.
Jesus affirmed it clearly as ever.
John 5:43, 45-47
43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for He wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
And yes, Jesus is the prophet to come as spoken in the old times. The letter to the Hebrews attested to this reality.
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds
He is the last prophet, the messenger of God the Father who would speak about Him us much, who as well shall be the heir of all things inclusive of that of His Father In heaven.
22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and He to whom the Son will reveal him.
John 16:15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that He shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
If all things from the Father are owned by Jesus, then do you think would face be an exemption here? Excuse me but it is not
45 And He that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
Whoever sees Jesus will definitely See the living God.
And if ever you see Jesus face, He will then be glorified in it. Trust him as he says,
10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am “glorified” in them.
No doubt, the reality of Jesus prophetic coming is the one fulfilled in the new testament. He is the prophet, the new Moses and ever living God who has a face, a human face,
1 John 1:1-3
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
If Jesus is the one the apostles HEARD from the very beginning then Jesus must be something other than a mere man. He could be exactly as this
1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
The Word was God. Exactly!
Besides that Of Jesus known to be the Word- healer to come as sent by His Father who knows of Him very well.
20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
28 Then cried Jesus in the temple as He taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but He that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
29 ” But I know him: for I am from him, and He hath sent me.”
It is no wonder Catholics know Jesus not only him being the word sent but because it is he the word who assumed human form.
John 1:14 ” And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
1 John 4:2
2 “Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:”
Jesus is the new Moses. He came into this world and talked like a prophet but He is more than a prophet as the Holy Scriptures would as ever testify to it And would as ever Jesus claim to be.
Luke 7:26 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.
So whoever denies that God came into this world with a human face, to speak then just like a prophet could, deserves the exact award the second verse below had already forewarned us about then…
1 John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
